Vol. 1, No. 17 - December 21, 2004
- This is Christmas week. Many of us will be traveling this week, either going home, going to see family and friends, or going to have fun. Best wishes to each and every one who is traveling.
What is important, is that on Friday and Saturday, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, Amtrak will operate a normal schedule of trains. Just like every other day of the year, Amtrak will arrive and depart from hundreds of stations across the country, doing its job of delivering people to their destinations.
To do this, there will be a huge cadre of Amtrak employees, including train and engine crews, onboard services employees, station services employees, reservations center employees, and lots of operating department and mechanical department employees, all with managers in place, making the system work, even on the most important holiday of the year.
We thank each and every one of these employees who will be working during the holiday, instead of being at home with family and friends. We will also be thinking of the many of other thousands of people working these same two days, in the hospitality and food service industries, airline and steamship employees, bus company employees, and most importantly, police, fire, and emergency services employees who will help assure our safety and ability to have a pleasant holiday.
Plus, we also thank the thousands of members of the United States military, all vigilant and on guard during the holidays, ensuring our safety and freedom throughout the world.
And, lastly, we especially appreciate the many convenience and drug store employees who will be working Christmas Day, providing those all critical batteries that everyone forgot to buy in advance!
- This will be the final TWA for 2004; publication will resume the first week in January. Lots of issues are already piling up, waiting for all of our attention.
Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and Happy New Year to one and all!
